SYMPLY SYMPHONIC! Young Musicians Orchestra
Why did we start this orchestra?
As a music teacher and educator (private instruction, small string ensembles, and string orchestra programs) for over 20 years, I realize that children and teens who are into sports, accelerated classes, theater, and dance don't have an opportunity to play their instruments in a group setting during the school day or after school when sports and other activities take over. Many times they must choose between electives, and often Band and Orchestra lose out.
Other opportunities like area youth orchestra require stressful tryouts, school orchestra participation, and private lessons to join. Then they are limited on space for certain instruments. They cannot and will not take on 20 clarinets but our new orchestra, Symply Symphonic!, will!
Finally, a community orchestra designed for our young musicians in mind! No audition necessary! No seat tryouts, always room for one more!
String Orchestra + Band players together = Symply Symphonic! Young Musicians Orchestra.

CLASS INFORMATION (BAND & ORCHESTRA)
0-1 year of experience works!
No experience necessary! Or, if your child has some experience but needs to refresh their skills a bit, this class will work perfectly. We can move them up to the intermediate class later.
Will need to rent or buy an instrument for this class. See the Instrument Page for help.
This class is for beginning musicians: strings, band, woodwinds, and percussion.
We will teach everything they need to know to start playing their instrument. After 10 weeks, the growth will really start to show!
Our music is carefully selected and arranged with your beginner in mind.
As a group, and in smaller ensembles, each musician will work on structured pieces suited to their level.
Along with a designated teacher and music volunteers, specialists will come in from time to time to enhance the learning process.
2-3 years of school orchestra or band and ability to read music are our only requirement for this class.
Does your child know his/her notes? Understand basic rhythms? Then this class is right for your student.
We take what they have already learned thus far about their instrument, and we raise it up a few notches! Students will learn new keys and more complex rhythms.
Special coaches, mentors, and volunteers will join us from time to time to work on individual parts. We will break into smaller ensembles to prepare for our concerts.
Music has been thoughtfully arranged for these growing musicians!
4 or more years previous school orchestra and/or private lessons is required for this class.
Are you good at sight-reading? Love complex rhythms and many keys? Ready to strut your stuff in a group setting?
Note: This class will be much more demanding, offering up many more challenging keys, rhythms, and music styles. So if you are passionate about working hard and testing your personal musical boundaries, this is the class for you!
Principal and Assistant Principal seat challenges are available for those who wish to audition. Just send us a note telling us you would like to be considered for a principal seat and we will get the audition material to you!
